Commissioning Engineer - Medium and High Voltage

About the role

ABB is hiring an Electrical Commissioning Engineer for its Distribution Solutions business in Belgium and Luxembourg, reporting to the Service Team Leader. The engineer becomes a technical partner to industrial and infrastructure clients, owning the commissioning journey from project planning to customer acceptance, working closely with the Senior Commissioning Engineer. The work is hybrid, combining onsite project work with flexible home or office time.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and coordinate commissioning activities for medium and high voltage installations
• Implement commissioning design changes and provide mark-ups for as-built documentation
• Apply standard processes so commissioning meets contractual, safety and cybersecurity requirements
• Carry out risk and opportunity assessments and follow mitigation guidelines
• Develop work plans and cost estimates, coordinating with project staff and contractors
• Program, test and validate protection systems (relay protections, automation controls) before customer acceptance
• Train internal teams and customers on system operation
• Translate technical requirements into clear guidelines and stay up to date on safety and cybersecurity best practices

Required profile

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent professional experience)
• Fluent Dutch, French and English
• Current valid Category B driver's licence, as frequent travel is required
• Collaborative problem-solver with strong written and verbal communication skills

Required skills

• Medium and high voltage system principles
• Planning, risk assessment and commissioning processes, including knowledge of safety regulations for mounting and installation
• Experience with IEC 61850 / DCS systems is an asset
