Backend Software Engineer – Transport Management Platform

About the role

Qargo is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join its growing team in Ghent. You will work on the core of a cloud‑based Transport Management Platform that serves logistics companies across Europe, helping them automate and optimise their operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Python, Django and GraphQL.
• Implement and improve data flows, storage (PostgreSQL) and messaging (Google Pub/Sub) to support scaling.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers and other backend engineers to translate logistics challenges into technical solutions.
• Enhance cloud‑native infrastructure on Google Cloud, including Kubernetes orchestration.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, performance optimisation and reliability improvements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience building backend systems for SaaS or enterprise applications.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving scale‑up.
