Backend Software Engineer (Python/Django)

About the role

Qargo is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to strengthen the core of its cloud‑based Transport Management Platform. Based in Ghent, you will help build and maintain the services that power planning, execution, billing and reporting for logistics companies across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Python, Django and GraphQL.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers and other backend teammates to translate logistics challenges into scalable solutions.
• Improve cloud‑native infrastructure on Google Cloud, including Kubernetes, Pub/Sub and related DevOps tooling.
• Optimize data flows and database schemas in PostgreSQL to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code quality standards and platform scalability as the customer base grows.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related IT field.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving scale‑up environment.
• Experience collaborating in cross‑functional teams and delivering production‑grade software.
