Backend Engineer – Java, Cloud‑Native Services (Fintech)

About the role

Harmoney is a fast‑growing fintech scale‑up building a cloud‑native platform used by leading European financial institutions. As a Backend Engineer you will design, develop and evolve the core services that power the platform, working closely with product owners and fellow engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable backend services using Java.
• Develop secure REST APIs and cloud‑native features.
• Translate product requirements into clean, maintainable code.
• Design and optimise database models and SQL queries.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver high‑quality features.
• Leverage AI tools to improve development speed and quality.
• Continuously improve performance, scalability and reliability of the platform.

Required profile

• Fluent in English.
• 3+ years of experience building enterprise applications in Java.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Proven ability to design and build secure REST APIs.
• Enjoy ownership, autonomy and solving complex technical challenges.
• Collaborative mindset with clear communication skills.
