Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to support our Business Intelligence (BI) processes within a NATO‑related environment. The role involves building and maintaining data pipelines, visualisation solutions and reporting tools while ensuring compliance with security requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support and enhance BI processes and operations.
• Investigate reporting and analytical requirements from business users.
• Apply BI tools and techniques to deliver dashboards and KPI reports.
• Collaborate with international teams, including military and civilian stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience with commercial or open‑source data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Grafana or R Shiny.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases, preferably SQL Server.
• Experience designing and reporting on user‑experience KPIs.
• Possession of NATO Secret clearance or ability to obtain it.
• Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation, DevOps Foundation, and proven programming/software development competency.
