Automation Engineer

About the role

As an Automation Engineer within the IT Agile Production Services (TechEx) tribe, you will design, implement and optimise automated solutions that boost the reliability, scalability and efficiency of mission‑critical banking infrastructure. You will work alongside a team of 20+ experts at our Brussels headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy end‑to‑end automation solutions for IT Operations covering DevOps, Security, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps.
• Partner with IT Operations teams to assess automation needs, identify optimisation opportunities and set project priorities.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows using Ansible, GitLab CI and related tools.
• Implement and manage IaC with Terraform to ensure consistent, scalable environments.
• Test, validate and document automation solutions to guarantee quality and reliability.
• Diagnose and resolve automation‑related incidents to maintain operational efficiency.
• Contribute to automation standards, best practices and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to align automation initiatives with organisational goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Ansible, GitLab CI and Terraform.
• Deep understanding of DevOps, Security, CI/CD, IaC and GitOps principles.
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace) and incident/problem management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
• 3+ years of hands‑on automation experience, preferably in IT Operations or SRE environments.
• Results‑driven mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Adaptability to fast‑paced environments and excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills.
