Accountant – Finance Backbone for Growing IoT Water Startup

About the role

Shayp is scaling from €2M to €20M in four years and needs a strong financial backbone. As an Accountant you will join a small finance team led by the Head of Finance and help build the operating layer that gives the company clear visibility, fast close cycles, and confidence for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Create a trustworthy financial picture for the CEO, board, and investors, delivering accurate and timely numbers.
• Manage the cash engine – collections, receivables, payables – with clean processes and predictable timing.
• Prepare sharp, honest reports for board meetings, general assemblies, and investor updates.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities by analysing supplier performance, cost structures, and contract terms.
• Contribute to revenue strategy, including pricing, payment terms, unit economics, and business model considerations.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in an accounting role.
• Deep knowledge of the Belgian fiscal landscape (VAT, ISOC, social contributions, fiscal deadlines).
• Experience handling multi‑country setups, cross‑border SaaS revenue, IoT hardware accounting, and complex cap tables.
• Fluent in English and at least one other Belgian national language (Dutch or French), using both daily.
