Senior Legal Counsel, Sustainability (EMEA)

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel, Sustainability (EMEA) joins Mars’ Sustainability Legal team to provide expert legal guidance on emerging sustainability regulations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The role focuses on interpreting material regulations, identifying compliance risks, and ensuring consistent legal approaches across business segments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on sustainability‑related regulatory requirements such as CSRD, CSDDD, EUDR, PPWR and forced‑labor provisions.
• Act as the primary driver of cross‑segment coordination on sustainability legal topics within the EMEA region.
• Develop regionally informed guidance, playbooks, templates and training materials in collaboration with the Sustainability Legal Center of Excellence.
• Maintain visibility on legal risks, regulatory developments and enforcement trends across EMEA markets.
• Translate enterprise legal positions into region‑specific guidance and support business teams with jurisdictional insights.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a legal counsel with a focus on sustainability or environmental regulation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive regional coordination.
• Strong internal networking skills across legal, sustainability and business functions.
• High degree of self‑direction and proactive risk identification.
