Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to lead the general accounting function for Sabena Engineering, an international aviation solutions provider. The role covers the full accounting cycle, month‑end and year‑end closings, and ensures compliance with Belgian accounting and tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and review the general ledger, process complex transactions and supplier invoices.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll accruals, balance‑sheet and profit‑and‑loss accounts.
• Lead monthly and annual closing activities in line with group procedures.
• Prepare annual accounts and coordinate filing with the National Bank of Belgium.
• Produce financial analyses, reconciliations and control schedules to monitor business performance.
• Handle VAT returns, Intrastat declarations, EC Sales Lists and corporate income tax filings.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, review depreciation and asset movements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries.

Required profile

• Higher education qualification in accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of experience in general accounting, closing, audit and Belgian tax obligations.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written Dutch and English; French is a plus.
• Analytical thinking, sound judgement and a solution‑oriented approach.
