Vice President, International Counsel

About the role

Stanley Black & Decker is looking for a Vice President, International Counsel to provide strategic legal leadership across its international businesses. Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, the role serves as the senior legal advisor for international operations, partnering with executive leadership to enable growth, manage risk and support the global strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an international legal strategy aligned with enterprise priorities and business objectives.
• Serve as the senior legal advisor to international business leadership on commercial growth, acquisitions, strategic initiatives and business transformations.
• Lead, develop and coach a high‑performing, geographically dispersed international legal team, overseeing talent development and resource allocation.
• Oversee significant litigation, investigations, regulatory matters and material legal issues across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating external counsel as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international laws and regulations and escalate material risks to executive leadership.
• Promote efficient, scalable legal service delivery and partner with Legal Operations to improve technology adoption, reporting and operational effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior legal executive with responsibility for international legal matters.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coach a geographically dispersed legal team.
• Strong track record of advising senior business leaders on complex commercial, regulatory and governance issues.
• Experience managing significant litigation, investigations and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ability to balance legal, commercial and operational considerations in strategic decision‑making.
