VAT Manager – Tax Advisory

About the role

Join Grant Thornton’s dynamic tax team as a VAT Manager, responsible for delivering a broad range of VAT advisory services to international and Belgian clients. You will act as a trusted advisor, supporting clients through business changes, expansions, and day‑to‑day VAT operations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for national and international clients on Belgian VAT matters and coordinate with non‑Belgian VAT colleagues.
• Perform VAT optimisation analyses, guide implementation of ERP tax codes, and conduct VAT health checks.
• Deliver tailored VAT technical training to client accounting and invoicing teams.
• Act as primary liaison with tax authorities during VAT audits, supporting clients through audit processes and penalty‑reduction requests.
• Contribute to internal process improvements, including e‑invoicing and automation of VAT reporting and compliance services.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics or Tax Law, or Bachelor’s in Accounting/Tax, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of VAT compliance experience, preferably in an international or consulting environment.
• Proactive, flexible team player with strong analytical and solution‑oriented skills.
• Results‑driven, entrepreneurial mindset with high attention to detail and responsibility.
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English; additional European language is a plus.
