Trademark Attorney / Legal Counsel

About the role

De Clercq & Partners is expanding its Trademark & Design practice and seeks a motivated Trademark Attorney / Legal Counsel. You will work with Belgian and international clients, ranging from innovative start‑ups to multinational corporations, on a wide variety of IP matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on trademark, design and related IP issues.
• Manage national, European and international trademark and design portfolios.
• Conduct clearance searches and provide availability opinions.
• Draft, file and prosecute applications before BOIP, EUIPO, WIPO and other offices.
• Handle opposition, cancellation and invalidity proceedings.
• Prepare legal opinions, cease‑and‑desist letters, coexistence, assignment and licence agreements.
• Develop pragmatic IP protection strategies and monitor legislative developments.
• Liaise with clients, foreign associates and IP offices worldwide.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law, preferably with an IP qualification.
• Some experience in IP law, trademark or design protection, ideally in private practice.
• Excellent written and oral communication in Dutch and English; additional languages a plus.
• Pragmatic, proactive, client‑oriented and self‑motivated.
• Strong attention to detail, confidentiality and prioritisation skills.
