Technical Project Manager (Freelance)

About the role

We are looking for a freelance Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of building IT systems projects in Brussels and Wallonia. You will join a dedicated project team and be responsible for planning, executing and closing projects that involve structured cabling, access control, CCTV and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, schedule and budget; estimate effort with experts and external contractors.
• Kick‑off projects, communicate detailed plans and monitor risks, issues and escalations.
• Coordinate multiple suppliers and project team members across concurrent projects.
• Conduct technical studies, validate supplier offers and produce specification documents.
• Provide regular status reports, monthly cost and progress updates to stakeholders.
• Act as third‑line support for critical incidents, initiate corrective actions and ensure resolution.
• Capture lessons learned and ensure knowledge transfer to support and operations teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in technical project management within building automation, telecom or electrical infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record managing budgets from €100 k to €5 M.
• Experience applying a recognised project‑management methodology (PM², PRINCE2, PMBOK or similar).

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and MS Office proficiency.
• Structured cabling, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection and fire detection systems.
• Knowledge of ARAB/AREI standards.
• IT networks and physical infrastructure expertise.
• Project‑management methodologies: PM², PRINCE2, PMBOK.
