Technical Designer – Senior Java Backend Engineer (Freelance)

About the role

We are seeking a freelance Technical Designer / Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a banking client’s team. You will shape the technical architecture, deliver robust backend services, and ensure high‑availability solutions in a cloud‑native environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, refine and maintain the technical architecture of assigned domains.
• Translate functional requirements into scalable, maintainable Java solutions.
• Validate functional analyses for technical feasibility and performance.
• Develop backend applications and orchestration services using Java 11 and Spring technologies.
• Create and integrate RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• Contribute to Azure‑based cloud‑native developments and integrations.
• Ensure compliance with architectural standards and project methodologies.
• Define and execute technical test designs, support testing, and manage bug‑fixing activities.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical consultancy to development teams.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, infrastructure teams and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of professional Java backend development experience.
• Strong ability to work autonomously while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Flexibility, attention to detail and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.
