Technical Designer

About the role

Within the Design Office you will actively participate in design studies for new test facilities, collaborating with researchers and technical teams under the supervision of the head of the office. The role involves creating concepts, developing detailed 3D models and supporting manufacturing and assembly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Study existing site conditions and review 3D models, blueprints and technical documentation.
• Carry out initial concept and feasibility studies in collaboration with engineers.
• Produce preliminary sketches and 3D models, including dimensioning calculations or component searches when required.
• Develop the concept in Catia V5 to full maturity, taking manufacturing, cost and assembly constraints into account.
• Create detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing and the technical documentation needed for assembly and use.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams.
• Respond to internal requests such as drawing modifications, archiving, printing services and report view creation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in technical drawing.
• Very good knowledge of computer‑aided design and drawing of complex mechanical parts.
• Functional knowledge of Catia V5 and willingness to upgrade skills.
• Basic understanding of material resistance and finite‑element calculations.
• Inventive, organised, methodical with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of French and/or Dutch and basic command of English.
