Strategic Buyer – Energy Grid Works

About the role

As a Strategic Buyer for Works, you will support Elia Group’s mission to build a sustainable, reliable electricity transmission network across Belgium and Europe. Working from the Brussels procurement hub, you will lead the sourcing of civil‑engineering, electrical and cable works required for high‑voltage substations, pylons and underground connections.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full procurement cycle – from market publication and tender analysis to negotiations, evaluations and contract award.
• Design and implement tendering procedures that align with project needs and market conditions.
• Develop and execute category‑specific procurement strategies based on market intelligence.
• Collaborate with project engineers and internal experts to translate technical requirements into clear procurement specifications.
• Build and maintain deep market and technical knowledge to shape the long‑term category strategy.
• Support project teams and contract managers with commercial follow‑up, cost monitoring and contract adjustments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic procurement, preferably within the energy, construction or infrastructure sector.
• Strong understanding of tendering processes, contract law and supplier negotiation.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess complex technical specifications.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
