Software Engineer – Peer-to-Peer Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer specialized in peer‑to‑peer (P2P) technologies to join a cutting‑edge team in Belgium. You will help design and build resilient, decentralized systems that enable data discovery and communication without relying on centralized infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain next‑generation P2P infrastructure for decentralized search.
• Build scalable, high‑performance networking solutions using Node.js.
• Implement distributed indexing and search algorithms based on advanced research concepts.
• Develop and optimise network protocols, including connection management, reliability, encryption and NAT traversal.
• Apply knowledge of distributed databases, CRDTs and decentralized data structures to solve engineering challenges.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to evaluate emerging technologies and translate ideas into production‑ready software.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with distributed systems and networking.
• Strong background in backend engineering, particularly with Node.js.
• Passion for decentralisation, peer‑to‑peer architectures and distributed computing.
• Familiarity with Kademlia DHTs and distributed indexing concepts.
