Software Engineer – Peer-to-Peer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Tether’s P2P Search team and help build a next‑generation, fully decentralized search stack. The role is 100 % remote and part of a global team that powers innovative fintech products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a peer‑to‑peer architecture with no centralized index.
• Develop resilient, self‑organising search engines for text, images, chats, locations and other data types.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate cutting‑edge distributed indexing concepts into production code.
• Write high‑performance Node.js services that operate over Kademlia DHT and other P2P protocols.
• Ensure data consistency using CRDTs and distributed database techniques.

Required profile

• Strong Node.js development experience.
• Passion for peer‑to‑peer systems and a bias for building over pure research.
• Deep understanding of at least one of the following: Kademlia DHT, skip graphs, prefix hash trees, m‑LIGHT, locality‑sensitive hashing.
• Familiarity with distributed databases, CRDTs and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, transport‑layer connection orientation).
• Excellent English communication skills.
