Software Engineer – Embedded & Firmware Development

About the role

Solhyd is seeking a driven Software Engineer to own and shape the digital backbone of its renewable hydrogen products. You will work closely with hardware and automation engineers to deliver reliable embedded and cloud‑based solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement firmware for embedded systems, including OS‑level configuration and adaptation.
• Develop process‑control software: control loops, sensor integration, actuator interfaces, and safety interlocks.
• Create and maintain finite state machines for operational modes, startup, error handling, and shutdown.
• Implement communication protocols and data pipelines (e.g., MQTT, Modbus) between hardware, gateways, and backend systems.
• Write clean, well‑documented code, set up version‑control practices, and follow a professional development workflow.
• Perform software testing, debugging, and validation in lab and field conditions.
• Maintain and extend the Grafana‑based online monitoring platform and its backend infrastructure.
• Support troubleshooting and software interventions on research, development, and field‑deployed panels.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in software and/or firmware development.
• Ability to work autonomously as the sole engineer responsible for this domain.
