Senior Software Engineer – Payroll Platform

About the role

Payflip is building a greenfield payroll engine that connects its salary platform to Belgian payroll providers. As a Senior Software Engineer you will own the backend services, design robust APIs and ensure the reliability of payroll processing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement APIs and data models for payroll concepts such as workers, absences and payslips.
• Build and maintain asynchronous integrations with external payroll systems, handling queues and idempotent syncing.
• Operate Windows Server VMs in Azure (SQL Server, IIS) using Terraform for provisioning.
• Ensure correctness, auditability and high availability of salary‑related data.

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering experience with API design, relational modeling and transactional integrity.
• Proven ability to integrate third‑party or legacy vendor APIs, including certificate‑based authentication.
• Comfortable working in Windows Server environments (RDP, IIS, SQL Server, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Azure and Terraform.
• Product‑oriented mindset, able to balance technical debt, testing and rapid delivery.
• Fluent English communication skills.
