Senior Data Platform Engineer
Agilytic · Brussels
Job description
About the role
Agilytic, a boutique data and AI consultancy founded in 2015, is looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer in Brussels. As the senior technical reference of its Platform Engineering & BI practice, you design data platforms end-to-end, set them up with the team and act as the go-to expert on difficult problems. The role also covers the AI Platform layer: the infrastructure, patterns and guardrails that let AI applications run reliably in production. It is a senior individual contributor role: you do not manage a team day-to-day, but you coach mid-level engineers and partner with the Practice Director and Managing Partners.
Key responsibilities
- Own the architecture of data and AI platforms for clients: ingestion, storage, transformation, orchestration, serving, observability and security.
- Set up and harden production environments on modern cloud stacks (AWS, Azure, GCP) using tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, dbt and Airflow.
- Build the AI Platform layer: model serving, feature stores, RAG pipelines, vector stores, evaluation and monitoring, and guardrails around LLM-based applications.
- Provide senior technical support: code reviews, troubleshooting, performance tuning and unblocking junior and mid-level engineers.
- Coach the team through pairing, technical write-ups, internal sessions and clear standards.
- Work directly with client tech leads, architects and CTOs, and contribute to proposals and scoping discussions.
Required profile
- Master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics or a related quantitative discipline, and at least 5 years of experience in data or platform engineering (7 to 8 years preferred).
- Proven experience designing and operating production data platforms on at least one major cloud, and building or running AI/ML platform components.
- Experience working directly with client stakeholders in a consulting or in-house lead role.
- Fluent English, plus French or Dutch (strong Dutch highly valued); eligibility to work in Belgium and the EU; valid type B driving licence.
Required skills
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Data stack: Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, dbt, Airflow, SQL and Python.
- CI/CD, infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) and DevOps practices for data.
- Data modelling patterns (medallion, dimensional, contract-driven pipelines) and security/governance basics (IAM, secrets, lineage, GDPR awareness).
What we offer
- Flexible and hybrid working, with team meetings in Brussels every Friday.
- Competitive package with variable incentives, mobility budget, phone subscription, laptop and meal vouchers.
- Remote flexibility within the limits of client and team needs.
- Training and development roadmap co-designed with you.
- Modern hardware and software.
