Security Project Manager

About the role

The Security Engineer / Project Manager will lead end‑to‑end delivery of security initiatives for a large Belgian utility operating in water management and environmental services. Based in the Digital organisation, the role blends project management, hands‑on technical execution and advisory responsibilities to protect critical infrastructure and ensure digital resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute security projects from initiation through closure, defining scope, timelines, resources and budgets.
• Deliver technical security solutions while embedding security‑by‑design principles and ensuring quality.
• Design, implement and continuously improve security processes, procedures and controls based on risk assessments and incident analysis.
• Configure, optimise and troubleshoot modern security platforms such as Microsoft Defender suite and Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory.
• Provide expert advice to Digital teams on architecture, risk mitigation, governance and compliance with frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, Cyber Fundamentals, NIS2).
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Infrastructure, Software Development and Operational Technology to drive security maturity.

Required profile

• Strong background in IT security combined with proven project‑management experience.
• Ability to translate security policies into practical workflows and guide cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for complex security issue investigation and resolution.
• Experience working in regulated or critical‑infrastructure environments is a plus.
