SCADA Engineer

About the role

As a SCADA Engineer at GIGA Storage, you will join the team building the central SCADA environment for large‑scale battery storage projects across Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. You will shape how sites communicate with the central platform, support operators, and prepare for future 24/7 dispatching.

Key responsibilities

• Translate operational requirements into functional SCADA specifications and work with suppliers to implement solutions.
• Own the end‑to‑end signal architecture, including signal lists, naming conventions, HMI visualisations and dashboards.
• Coordinate integration between local SCADA systems, the central platform and connected systems such as EMS and data platforms.
• Prepare and execute FAT and SAT testing, validate functionality and lead commissioning activities.
• Monitor system performance, analyse incidents and drive improvements, becoming the central SCADA point of contact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electromechanical Engineering, Energy, ICT or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA or OT environments.
• Strong analytical mindset and communication skills, able to work with technical suppliers.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, willingness to travel to sites.

Required skills

• Industrial communication protocols: Modbus, IEC 104, OPC UA.
• HMI/visualisation development and dashboard design.
• Functional testing, FAT and SAT execution.
• PLC configuration and alarm management.
• Integration with Energy Management Systems (EMS).
