Satellite Verification & Validation Engineer - MGSE Engineer

About the role

Aerospacelab, which designs and manufactures small satellites and develops earth observation services, is looking for a Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) Engineer to join its V&V team. You will design and build the mechanical ground support equipment needed to verify and validate satellites on the flatsat (FS) and on the final assembly line (FAL), embedded in the Factory team alongside PA, Industrialization, Manufacturing and AIT engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Define MGSE requirements for all subsystems with the V&V Test Engineers to cover the agreed test scope for FS and FAL.
• Develop the mechanical V&V GSE for a functioning final assembly line and for flatsat testing.
• Develop the work centers of the production line within the Factory team, ensuring mechanical V&V GSE needs are met.
• Test and commission the GSE on the FS, STM, QM and PFM.
• Support the first phase of satellite production, iterating on the GSE to resolve issues on the line, with occasional on-site presence at the Megafactory in Charleroi.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, brainstorming and continuous improvement of GSE processes.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, Mechanical Design, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or a related field.
• Practical, iterative design mindset, comfortable building, testing and improving equipment.
• Proactive, autonomous and a strong communicator in a fast-paced, cross-team environment.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Nice to have: previous factory or industrial experience, experience with iterative/agile design cycles, and willingness to spend occasional periods on site at the Charleroi Megafactory.

Required skills

• CAD knowledge (Siemens NX preferred)
• PLM knowledge is a plus
