Restaurant Manager – Gent

About the role

Mission Masala is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of its Gent location. You will be the main point of contact for all on‑site staff, ensuring a seamless guest experience while driving operational, financial, and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant operations, including front‑of‑house, bar, and service flow.
• Coordinate and supervise front‑of‑house, kitchen liaison, and cleaning teams to guarantee smooth and efficient service.
• Lead by example on the floor, engaging guests and ensuring high‑quality service execution.
• Manage reservations, troubleshoot issues, handle special requests and complaints.
• Create and manage staff schedules based on forecasted sales, optimise labour efficiency and monitor overtime, absenteeism, and holiday planning.
• Approve shift swaps, leave requests and ensure appropriate staffing levels during peak periods and events.
• Recruit, onboard, train and evaluate restaurant staff; conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions.
• Develop team skills in service, product knowledge and upselling; identify high‑potential employees and support growth pathways.
• Handle daily financial administration, cash handling and guard key business KPIs such as staff cost %, waste/food cost, average spend per guest, review scores and table turn times.
• Analyse weekly performance data and implement profit‑driving initiatives.
