Regulatory Counsel, Privacy Advisory and Engagement

About the role

Google is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to lead privacy advisory and regulator engagement across its European operations. You will work closely with product, engineering, compliance and public policy teams to translate complex legal requirements into actionable guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret UK, EU and other EMEA privacy and data protection laws and convert them into clear requirements for product and engineering teams.
• Provide legal advice on compliance programs, policies and risk mitigation strategies.
• Partner with Government Affairs and Public Policy colleagues to shape regulator discussions, negotiations and disclosures.
• Monitor emerging regulations such as the EU Digital Services Act and AI Act and advise on their impact.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B. or equivalent degree with at least 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house or law‑firm settings.
• Demonstrated expertise in digital regulation, privacy and data‑protection law across the UK and Europe.
• Admission to the bar in a jurisdiction where the role is based and in good standing.
• Experience engaging with regulators and familiarity with broader EMEA legal frameworks.
