R&D Prototyper

About the role

Locinox, a maker of smart gates, is looking for an R&D Prototyper in Waregem. As part of the R&D team, you turn design ideas into tangible solutions, helping designers validate their concepts quickly and efficiently. You choose between a quick proof of concept and a high-quality prototype that closely resembles the final product, working independently and in close collaboration with development teams and reporting directly to the R&D Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Build prototypes across all stages, from rapid concept validations to high-quality pre-series prototypes.
• Help choose the most efficient way to validate ideas, including materials, techniques and manufacturing processes.
• Give designers structured feedback on manufacturability, material selection, tolerances and design quality.
• Set up and run mechanical and electromechanical tests, investigate deviations and failures through root cause analysis.
• Work hands-on with workshop equipment such as CNC machines and welding installations.
• Ensure quality and precision using appropriate measurement methods and tools.
• Use digital tools: read drawings via PLM systems, support programming and document builds and test results.
• Build test setups, demonstrators and integrated prototype systems.
• Contribute to a safe, well-organised workshop and suggest improvements to processes and tooling.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent through experience.
• Experience in prototyping, product development or another hands-on technical environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of machining processes and an affinity for several manufacturing techniques.
• Structured, methodical and creative, with strong attention to detail and quality.
• Able to work independently and as a team player.
• Fluent in English.
