Project Engineer – Process Revamping (Food Industry)

About the role

As a Project Engineer you will lead the revamping of a food‑industry production line, improving its performance, reliability and efficiency. You will work across the full project lifecycle – from assessment and design to installation, commissioning and start‑up – ensuring technical solutions meet operational, safety and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse current line performance, identify bottlenecks and define revamp scope with operations and maintenance teams.
• Develop technical specifications, functional requirements and redesign layouts to optimise product flow.
• Select and evaluate process equipment, review and validate engineering drawings (P&IDs, schematics, layouts).
• Coordinate suppliers, contractors and internal teams, monitor timeline, costs and resources.
• Support shutdown planning, installation, commissioning, testing and validation of upgraded systems.
• Perform risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP), implement mitigation actions and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Document changes, procedures and lessons learned; train operators and maintenance staff on new equipment.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical or project engineering within an industrial setting.
• Proven experience in production line optimisation, revamping or process‑improvement projects.
• Background in the food or process industry is a strong asset.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
