Postdoctoral Researcher – AI in Education and Training

About the role

The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in multiple AI‑driven learning support projects, focusing on the pedagogical and didactic foundations of AI applications across primary, secondary, higher, and professional education.

Key responsibilities

• Help shape the research agenda and position research lines within national and European programmes.
• Conceptualise and co‑write new research proposals on AI in education and training with senior researchers and principal investigators.
• Conduct literature reviews and develop evidence‑informed frameworks on the pedagogical use of AI, with emphasis on feedback, self‑regulation and competence development.
• Design and coordinate empirical studies on AI’s impact, including coaching junior researchers.
• Analyse research data, author scientific publications and translate findings into practice‑oriented tools and guidelines for teachers, trainers and L&D specialists.

Required profile

• PhD (or near completion) in educational sciences, psychology or a related field.
• Strong interest in AI in education, learning analytics or educational technology.
• Excellent research and methodological expertise.
• Ability to lead research independently and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience or interest in co‑writing research proposals and developing future research lines.
• Clear communication with diverse education and training stakeholders.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
• Initiative and commitment to societal impact through research.
