Policy Officer – Earth Observation Programme

About the role

Join the European Space Agency’s Earth Observation Programme in Brussels as a Policy Officer. You will work closely with the Head of the Strategy, Programme and Coordination Office to support ESA’s engagement with EU institutions and shape policy that leverages Earth Observation data.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain contacts with European Commission Directorates‑General involved in space research and innovation.
• Monitor EU legislation relevant to Earth Observation and communicate implications to the Directorate.
• Engage with Permanent Representations of Member States, EU Council working parties, and European Parliament committees.
• Coordinate with professional space associations and industry representatives in Brussels to define common positions on Earth Observation assets.
• Promote space policy debate through think‑tank collaborations, conferences, and dedicated events.
• Support ESA staff seconded to EU institutions by providing timely updates on programme developments.
• Assist colleagues responsible for implementing Earth Observation components of the EU Space Programme.
