Policy Counsel – EMEA

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Policy Counsel to join its legal team and support public‑policy and regulatory initiatives across the EMEA region. The role sits at the intersection of artificial‑intelligence technology and law, helping shape frameworks that ensure AI is developed responsibly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Support the creation of AI‑governance frameworks that align with evolving regulations, industry best practices and global standards.
• Monitor and analyse emerging legislative and regulatory developments related to AI across EMEA.
• Provide legal analysis and advice to the External Affairs and Public Policy teams.
• Partner with policy and technical teams to develop practical policy guidance informed by deep product knowledge.
• Assist in drafting policy positions, proposals and advocacy materials, including comment letters and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Law degree and qualification to practice law in a relevant EMEA jurisdiction.
• Experience in policy, regulatory or government‑affairs work in government, a tech company, law firm or policy organisation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex legal and technical concepts accessible.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for ambiguous policy questions.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant legal experience, preferably on AI/ML policy, data privacy, copyright or technology regulation.
• Familiarity with EU or national‑level legislative and regulatory processes.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly understand AI concepts and translate them into policy contexts.
• Collaborative, humble approach and capacity to work effectively across diverse teams in a fast‑paced environment.
