Platform Engineer – Liège, Belgium

About the role

As a Platform Engineer at GAMING1, you will design, build, and maintain the core capabilities of our internal developer platform. You will enable seamless, secure, and self‑service software delivery for our engineering teams, treating the platform as a product that reduces cognitive load and boosts productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design and implement platform capabilities using Infrastructure‑as‑Code principles.
• Create self‑service tools and automation to improve developer productivity.
• Ensure security standards are applied and continuously updated.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and availability from a customer‑centric perspective.
• Implement, test, and validate disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Proactively test platform flexibility and resilience.
• Research, experiment with, and evaluate new technologies for platform innovation.
• Document platform features and conduct workshops to evangelize capabilities.
• Collect user feedback and continuously improve the platform experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or related fields.
• Strong mindset focused on self‑service, automation, and developer experience.
• Product thinking and willingness to take calculated risks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively while working autonomously.
• Strong communication skills for sharing technical knowledge.

Required skills

• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools: Terraform, Ansible (or similar).
• Container technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
• Automation scripting: Python.NET.
• Observability tools: DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Databases and messaging: PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Kafka.
• IAM providers and security standards for operational platforms.
• CI/CD pipelines and developer portal technologies.
