Part-Time IT Systems & HPC Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Linux‑savvy IT professional to take ownership of our systems administration and High‑Performance Computing (HPC) environment on a part‑time (60%) basis. The role combines tactical management of on‑premise and cloud infrastructure with day‑to‑day support for roughly 30 office users.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimise HPC job schedulers such as SLURM or LSF‑like tools.
• Ensure optimal GPU access for both local and cloud‑based workloads.
• Automate server deployment and configuration using Ansible across Proxmox/bare‑metal and cloud platforms.
• Support containerised data pipelines with Kubernetes, Docker and related technologies.
• Administer identity and access management (LDAP, SSSD, SAML) and maintain Fortinet firewall rules.
• Implement backup and snapshot regimes, archive SaaS data (GitLab, Coda) to NAS and define disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Provide user support for hardware, OS (Windows/macOS), application issues and network latency.
• Manage endpoint security (ESET) and Google Admin consoles, and handle employee onboarding/off‑boarding.
• Act as technical liaison with vendors and third‑party service providers.

Required profile

• Practical experience with HPC job schedulers (SLURM/LSF) and high‑compute workload management.
• Strong background in Linux system administration.
• Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code using Ansible.
• Hands‑on knowledge of firewall management (Fortinet) and identity management solutions.
• Ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks at the system level.
