Part-Time Instructor – Human Resource Management

About the role

The Division of Continuing Education at UC Irvine seeks qualified part‑time instructors to teach online courses in Human Resource Management. This contract position involves delivering course content, assessing student performance, and maintaining academic standards for a diverse, adult learner population.

Key responsibilities

• Develop or update course syllabi in collaboration with the Business Programs Director using the approved template.
• Prepare and deliver online lectures, readings, and assessments via the Canvas Learning Management System.
• Communicate clear learning objectives, grading policies, and feedback to students.
• Evaluate student work, assign grades, and post final grades to the transcript system by established deadlines.
• Respond promptly to student inquiries and provide support throughout the term.
• Complete required administrative tasks, including hiring paperwork, quarterly contract signing, and posting instructor bio.
• Stay current with professional HR knowledge and employ culturally competent teaching methods.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in one or more HR areas such as talent acquisition, compensation, HR law, employee benefits, training & development, leadership, conflict resolution, or business writing.
• Prior experience teaching or presenting HR content to adult learners, preferably in an online environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage course materials, and adhere to university policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canvas LMS for course delivery and assessment.
