Mobile Software Developer (Android/Kotlin)

About the role

UZ Leuven’s IT department is seeking a Mobile Software Developer to expand its Android portfolio and eventually support iOS or cross‑platform solutions. You will bridge the Oracle PeopleSoft ERP backend with intuitive mobile applications used by thousands of hospital staff.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and the Android Jetpack ecosystem.
• Collaborate with architects to implement MVVM, Clean Architecture and Dependency Injection patterns.
• Integrate apps with backend services via REST APIs (Retrofit/OkHttp) and local storage (Room).
• Implement Firebase services for crash reporting, analytics, cloud messaging and data synchronization.
• Participate in the full lifecycle from requirements analysis to release, testing and user training.
• Stay informed about mobile trends and contribute to future platform decisions (iOS, cross‑platform).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in IT or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven expertise in Android development with Kotlin.
• Strong interest in the broader mobile landscape and willingness to learn new platforms.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment (2‑3 days onsite) and communicate in Dutch and English.
