Mid-level Functional Analyst (Hybrid, Brussels)

About the role

eXalt is looking for a Medior Functional Analyst to join a major transformation program serving banking, insurance, energy, transport and public‑sector clients. Working in a hybrid model (2.5 days on‑site in Brussels), you will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams, translating business needs into robust, scalable functional solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and analyse business requirements from multiple stakeholders.
• Produce detailed functional specifications and structured documentation.
• Model business processes and system interactions using UML (use case, sequence, class diagrams, etc.).
• Design, document and maintain API interfaces (REST/SOAP) and ensure smooth system integration.
• Support development teams during implementation with clear functional deliverables.
• Coordinate functional testing and organise User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Provide day‑to‑day support, troubleshoot functional issues and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, Developer or Integration Consultant, preferably in banking, insurance or utilities.
• Strong analytical, structuring and documentation abilities.
• Hands‑on experience with UML modelling tools (e.g., Enterprise Architect, Lucidchart).
• Solid understanding of API concepts (RESTful, SOAP, Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman).
• Good knowledge of SQL, Excel and at least one scripting language such as Python.
• Familiarity with enterprise environments, cloud technologies (Azure) and containerisation platforms (Kubernetes).
