Medical Safety Officer – Immunology

About the role

The Medical Safety Officer (MSO) for Immunology will join Johnson & Johnson’s Global Medical Safety organization. Reporting to the Portfolio Safety Head, the MSO is responsible for assessing and overseeing the safety of innovative medicine products throughout their lifecycle, from clinical development to market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Safety Management Teams (SMT) for assigned immunology products, overseeing safety surveillance, signal detection, and risk management activities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Risk Management Plans (RMP) and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) as required.
• Provide medical and scientific expertise to cross‑functional teams and act as the GMS representative on key committees.
• Communicate safety findings and risk assessments to senior leadership, health authorities, prescribers, and patients.
• Design and execute risk mitigation strategies in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent experience in medical safety/pharmacovigilance.
• Proven experience in product safety risk assessment and benefit‑risk evaluation.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for safety reporting.
• Ability to lead matrixed, cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
