Mechanical R&D Engineer – Advanced Optical Systems

About the role

Lambda‑X High‑Tech is seeking a Mechanical R&D Engineer to contribute to the design and development of cutting‑edge optical systems for space, defence, life‑science and industrial applications. You will work closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to turn innovative concepts into reliable, high‑precision mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design high‑precision mechanical assemblies and systems, considering optical, thermal, structural and manufacturing constraints.
• Create 3D models, detailed drawings and complete technical documentation (BOMs, design reports, calculations, justification of design choices).
• Define tolerances, fits and functional dimensions to ensure precision, reliability and manufacturability.
• Participate in prototype assembly, integration, testing and troubleshooting in clean‑room environments.
• Interact with suppliers for technical discussions, custom‑made parts and quotations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of mechanical solutions while balancing performance, cost and schedule.
