Mechanical Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Manager to lead the mechanical department at our Ghent plant. You will be responsible for ensuring reliable, safe and efficient operation of the plant while fostering a motivated and high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and evaluate a core team of eight employees and coordinate approximately 35 mechanics.
• Oversee daily workflow, work orders and planning, and supervise major maintenance activities including shutdowns.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, conduct task risk analyses (e.g., HAZOP) and follow up on incident investigations.
• Perform quality checks, manage spare‑parts inventory and analyse failures/wear to improve reliability.
• Participate in project teams, exchange knowledge with engineering and process technology, and propose improvements for quality, capacity and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with production, planning, procurement and external contractors.

Required profile

• Strong people‑leadership skills with the ability to motivate, inspire and create a climate of trust.
• Clear communicator who can set priorities independently and interact across departments.
• Engineering background or equivalent experience with the maturity to lead a technical team.
• Improvement mindset and natural affinity for technology.
