Managing Director, EU Operations

About the role

NALA is establishing its licensed entity in Belgium and seeks a founding Managing Director to act as the regulatory anchor and commercial catalyst for its European hub. You will represent NALA to the National Bank of Belgium, shape the EU hub strategy, and guide the company through the upcoming PSD3 regulatory landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Own the Belgian licensed entity, serving as the senior executive accountable to the National Bank of Belgium for licensing and oversight.
• Lead regulatory relationships with the NBB and FSMA, building high‑trust partnerships that enable passporting across the EU Single Market.
• Develop and execute the regulatory transition roadmap for PSD3, PSR, and DORA, coordinating with legal, compliance, and product teams.
• Architect the EU hub by leveraging Belgium’s passporting position to create governance, operational substance, and cross‑border expansion frameworks.
• Translate regulatory credibility into commercial opportunities, securing strategic partnerships with banks, processors, and distribution partners.
• Recruit, build, and lead a high‑performing Management Committee and operational team in Belgium.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in fintech or financial services, preferably with regulatory licensing (EMI/PI) experience.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with central banks and financial regulators at a senior level.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of forming strategic partnerships.
• Entrepreneurial mindset combined with rigorous compliance discipline.
