Legal Counsel – FMCG Industry

About the role

Nicols, a leading FMCG company, is seeking a Legal Counsel to embed the legal function within its business operations. Reporting to the CFO of the Legal & Compliance Department, you will partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance, manage risk, and support strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, negotiate and manage commercial contracts, NDAs and templates across the supply chain.
• Define and implement legal policies, support corporate transactions including M&A, and provide strategic advice to senior management.
• Monitor product regulations, support approvals (ingredients, labeling, SDS) and align internal policies with external obligations.
• Protect trademarks, designs and patents, conduct IP infringement checks and coordinate with external IP advisors.
• Support board and shareholder activities, manage legal entity administration and corporate housekeeping.
• Handle claims, litigation, insurance matters and ensure compliance with competition law, anti‑corruption, code of conduct and GDPR.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law with a commercial/corporate focus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial law, contract law and regulatory frameworks, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing.
• Proven ability to work as a business partner and embed legal processes within operations.

Required skills

• Expertise in commercial and contract drafting, negotiation and risk assessment.
• Strong knowledge of product‑related regulatory compliance.
• Understanding of trademark, design and patent protection.
• Experience in risk management, dispute resolution and litigation handling.
