Legal Advisor – Supervision of Asset Management & Investment Products

About the role

We are looking for a Legal Advisor to join the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) in the Supervision of Asset Management, Savings Products and Bank Investment Products department. You will contribute to strengthening public confidence in the financial sector and protecting consumers by overseeing the authorization and ongoing supervision of asset management and investment firms.

Key responsibilities

• Handle applications for authorization and supervise a portfolio of asset management, savings and bank investment product companies.
• Analyse business models, organisational structures and service offerings against applicable laws and regulations.
• Review quantitative reporting, collaborating with economists when needed.
• Prepare and participate in inspections together with the FSMA inspection team and monitor follow‑up actions.
• Coordinate with colleagues supervising public UCIs, conduct‑of‑business compliance, perimeter supervision and data analytics.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law.
• At least three years of experience in the financial sector, preferably with exposure to asset management.
• Strong analytical, organisational and synthesis abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch, French and English.
• Interest in finance‑related challenges such as digitisation, fintech and big data.
