Junior Mechanical Design Engineer – Trainee Path

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Design Engineer who will start as a service trainee for up to two years. This hands‑on period will give you deep insight into our optical‑coating machines, customers, and internal processes before you move into a full design position.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and support machines at customer sites, coordinating schedules and travel.
• Perform on‑site maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues and provide detailed reports.
• Design and develop machines from concept through production, including prototyping, testing and validation.
• Ensure projects meet quality, cost and timeline targets while collaborating with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Contribute innovative ideas, participate in brainstorming sessions and support continuous product improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• Strong technical knowledge of electromechanics.
• Eager to learn, proactive and customer‑oriented.
• Autonomous yet a true team player.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% during the first two years, then around 10%.
