Junior Data & AI Engineer – Finance

About the role

Econopolis, a Belgian asset management and consulting firm, is looking for a Junior Data & AI Engineer to help build and maintain the data backbone that supports its investment and economic consulting activities. You will work closely with the data lead, shaping new pipelines, tools and AI‑driven solutions from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Automate recurring data workflows to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
• Develop and extend Python‑based internal tools for consulting and asset‑management teams.
• Explore practical AI and LLM use cases and integrate them into existing workflows.
• Act as the go‑to person for pipeline questions and support internal users.
• Collaborate with the data team to brainstorm new products and track AI developments.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or professional bachelor’s with a strong analytical/coding focus (e.g., engineering, IT, applied sciences).
• Hands‑on experience with data analysis and manipulation, academic or professional.
• Proactive, creative mindset and comfortable proposing new ideas.
• Fluent in Dutch and/or English.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of Python for data manipulation, scripting and automation.
• Comfortable writing SQL queries and interacting with APIs.
• Understanding of LLM/AI concepts and how to apply them to real tasks.
• Experience with data pipelines or ETL processes.
