Junior Associate – Competition Law (Brussels)

About the role

DLA Piper is seeking a motivated Junior Associate with 1‑3 years of experience to join its growing Competition practice in Brussels. You will work on a broad spectrum of international competition matters, gaining early responsibility and exposure to high‑profile cases.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with merger control and foreign direct investment (FDI) filings before the European Commission and national authorities.
• Provide advice on the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) and related matters.
• Conduct legal research and draft tailored competition law advice for multinational clients.
• Support clients in behavioural and commercial competition issues, investigations, and market inquiries.
• Assist with state aid analyses and coordinate multijurisdictional projects with foreign counsel and other DLA Piper offices.
• Prepare notifications, submissions, client memoranda, and regulatory filings.

Required profile

• Qualified to practise law in Belgium, or in the process of qualification.
• 1‑3 years of experience in competition law, or a strong interest in the field.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• High work standards, strong service orientation, and excellent communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to manage complex matters.
• Proactive, well‑organized, flexible, and a team player.
