HPC Software and Support Engineer

About the role

The HPC Software and Support Engineer will join the ICT department’s HPC team at Ghent University to help develop the EuroHPC Federation Platform and support researchers using high‑performance computing resources.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate the European Environment for Scientific Software Installations (EESSI) into the EuroHPC Federation Platform, documenting best practices and improving user experience.
• Assist EuroHPC Hosting Entities with deployment, testing, and monitoring of the Federated Software Catalog.
• Add software installations to EESSI using EasyBuild and provide support to end‑users and system administrators.
• Participate in user testing, create user‑facing documentation, and organise training events such as webinars and in‑person workshops.
• Represent Ghent University within the EFP consortium and promote the platform at international events.

Required profile

• Experience with scientific computing or research that relies on large‑scale distributed computing.
• Proficiency in Linux command‑line environment (bash) and familiarity with software installation for compiled (C++) and interpreted (Python) languages.
• Good command of English; Dutch is a plus or willingness to learn quickly.
