Freelance Project Lead – High‑Voltage Substations

About the role

We are seeking a Freelance Project Lead to drive high‑voltage substation infrastructure projects for a leading Belgian energy company. The role involves coordinating all phases of projects ranging from 36 kV to 380 kV, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery within a dynamic environment that supports the energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end project coordination, from definition and technical studies to execution and closure.
• Perform and supervise technical studies, engineering calculations, and design reviews for substation infrastructure.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
• Prepare tender documentation, support procurement processes, and coordinate with contractors and suppliers.
• Lead on‑site execution activities, ensuring safety, quality, and alignment with project objectives.
• Report progress to stakeholders and facilitate communication between technical and operational teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Fluent Dutch (native level); professional English is a plus.
• Strong organizational, coordination, and customer‑oriented communication skills.
• Experience in project management, site supervision, or infrastructure delivery is desirable.
