Field Service Engineer (Controls)

About the role

JBT Marel, a global leader in food processing technology, is looking for a Field Service Engineer (Controls) to join its team in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. The role involves travelling internationally to install, maintain, troubleshoot and optimise advanced automated food processing systems, combining strong controls knowledge with good customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and carry out corrective maintenance on electrical, pneumatic and PLC-controlled systems
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment rebuilds, upgrades and optimisation
• Support installations, commissioning and start-up at customer sites worldwide
• Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance and troubleshooting in English, French and Dutch
• Diagnose complex automation and controls issues and implement sustainable solutions
• Follow JBT Marel and customer health, safety and food safety requirements
• Document service activities and identify spare parts needs and upgrade options
• Build customer relationships and collaborate with Technical Support, Engineering, Project Management and Customer Care
• Provide flexible support, including weekends and occasional emergency calls

Required profile

• Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Controls or a related field
• Minimum 3 years in a Field Service, Controls Engineering, Automation or similar role
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-based systems and industrial automation equipment
• Fluent English and Dutch, written and spoken; basic French required
• Valid driver's licence and passport, able to travel internationally
• Advantageous: experience in food processing, manufacturing, packaging or industrial machinery
