Experienced GL Accountant – Liège, Belgium

About the role

Gaming1, a leader in land‑based and online gaming, is seeking an Experienced GL Accountant to join its finance team in Liège. You will own the monthly and annual closing process, drive automation initiatives and support the company’s AI‑enabled transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting for a portfolio of companies and ensure accurate monthly and annual closings.
• Analyse balance sheets and profit & loss statements, providing relevant financial insights to management.
• Prepare audit files and coordinate with external auditors.
• Oversee the Procure‑to‑Pay flow, including payment processing.
• Play a hands‑on role in optimizing the ERP system and related finance applications.
• Redesign processes with an “Automation First” mindset to minimise manual work.
• Leverage AI tools for repetitive tasks such as reconciliations, matching and reporting, while reviewing outputs critically.
• Assist the tax team with VAT, corporate tax and other fiscal matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a master’s in finance.
• At least 5 years of experience in a large organisation (50+ employees).
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and Belgian GAAP (BEGAAP).
• Good understanding of the Belgian fiscal environment (VAT, corporate tax).
• Proficiency with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus) and advanced Excel.
• Interest or experience in automation, digital process design and AI tools applied to finance.
• Fluent in French and able to communicate effectively in English.
