Europe HSE&C Advisor

About the role

This is a Europe HSE&C Advisor role within the Castrol ring-fence of the HSSE group. The advisor acts as the HSE&C focal point for Belgium, supports the delivery of the Global and Europe HSE&C strategy, and promotes a strong, consistent HSE&C culture across European operations. The position is hybrid (office/remote) and requires up to 25% travel across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Guide mentors so that HSE&C risks across the Europe Performance Unit are identified, assessed and handled
• Support the delivery of the Global and Europe HSE&C strategy and plan
• Partner with lubricant plants, CMS sites, distribution hubs and commercial teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and bp requirements
• Supervise HSE&C performance, identify trends and escalate where needed to drive corrective actions
• Support and lead incident management, including investigations and follow-up
• Enable key HSE&C systems such as OMS, Control of Work, risk management and process safety
• Support training, competence development and awareness programmes
• Ensure legal compliance and support local operations in Belgium
• Work with internal and external partners, including works councils, and travel across Europe about 25% of the time

Required profile

• University degree (or equivalent experience)
• Certified Prevention Advisor Level 1 (Belgium requirement)
• Formal HSE&C qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) is a strong advantage
• Significant experience in HSE&C or operational roles with strong HSE&C accountability
• Ability to influence collaborators across different levels and locations
• Professional proficiency in English and French (local language required)

Required skills

• Understanding of HSE&C standards, regulations and management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
• Experience in manufacturing or operational environments
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication
